Christmas Fun 2023!!
Christmas week was such fun, the little elves were far from glum! Busy, busy causing havoc, in every class, they almost ravaged. The children decked out in their Christmas gear, the student council with their 1st gig of the year. A T-shirt for all with their own design, to create festive ideas that was on their minds. The Big Elf made an appearance or two that caused some screaming and a hullabaloo. Of course Santa came at the end of it all and I think you'll agree we all had a ball!!!

Rounders 2023 We began our first ever journey in Cumann na mBunscoil Rounders with a trip to the 3G pitch in Breffni. We were paired with St Felims for our opening game and we ran out comfortable winners with a score of 7-0 with a commanding performance from Finn Reilly on the pitchers mound. Confidence was high after the first game and we were rewarded with a second victory this time against Ballyhaise with a scoreline of 6-2. A well rounded team display with good communication and impressive batting from Nathan Bell and Ryan Mc Cabe sealing the win. Our win over Ballyhaise was quickly followed by a game against Kill. Thanks to some fantastic fielding from team captain Aoife Rogers and James Mc Elwaine the game was quickly wrapped up with a score of 4-0. Our last game of the day was against Corlurgan, a team which we had seen dominate their games throughout the day. A cagey match with some great fielding on both sides led to tense closing stages of the game with Corlurgan to bat needing only three runs to secure the win. Fortunately, some quick thinking from Cait Galligan at shortstop got the final out that we needed to ensure that we would have another day out in Breffni the following week. The game ended 7-5 in favour of Tunnyduff. Well rested and eager to see who awaited us in the semi final of the competition we arrived early to the 3G the following week to see the game between St Felims and Redhills, the winner of which would play off against us in the semi final. Redhills looked strong and formidable in their fielding and batting and made it past St Felims. After a quick turn around our game was to begin. There was nothing between the teams as the game ebbed and flowed through each inning. Some solid batting performances from Katie Jackson and Dylan Daly kept the scoreboard ticking over in our favour while James Smith maintained a controlling presence in the centre of the field. A few changes were made on our side with Ronan Rogers and Atene Gasiunaite introduced to the fray. It didn't take long for both players to have an impact with excellent fielding from both. We eventually managed to edge past a resilient Redhills team on a scoreline of 14-12. We knew from the start of day two that Mulahoran were waiting in the final for the winner of our game. Mulahoran were clearly an impressive team with a history and background in rounders and the nerves for competing against such a team showed early on in the game. Mulahoran built up a strong early lead with our fielders being unable to stop the relentless display. When our time to bat came around it was clear we had a mountain to climb and risks had to be taken to recoup the score. Unfortunately our competition were astute in their play and capitalized on mistakes quickly. Further changes were made with the introduction of Shannon Mc Crossan in center field to try and regain some control of the match but it was too late to turn the tide. Mulahoran ran out 24-4 winners in the end. We can be very proud of our display in our first ever rounders competition and it gives us great optimism for the future with a wealth of knowledge gained from this years games.
